#Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is the most common type of heart arrhythmia, characterized by rapid, irregular, and uncoordinated contractions of the atria (the heart's upper chambers). This chaotic electrical activity prevents the atria from effectively pumping blood into the ventricles, leading to a rapid and irregular heart rate. AFib significantly increases the risk of stroke due to blood clot formation in the atria, as well as heart failure. Treatment aims to control heart rate and rhythm and prevent thrombotic complications.
