Alcef 1g Injection contains
Ceftriaxone Sodium 1g, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a broad range of bacterial infections. It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and is suitable for hospital or clinic use.

Main Indications
- Respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Dosage and Administration
- Adults: 1–2g once daily or divided into two doses.
- Children: 50–75 mg/kg/day depending on severity.
- Administer intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) after reconstitution.
Side Effects
- Injection site pain, rash, diarrhea, nausea
- Rarely: allergic reactions or elevated liver enzymes
Warnings/Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins.
- Adjust dosage in renal impairment.
- Avoid mixing with calcium-containing IV solutions.

Mechanism of Action
Ceftriaxone binds to penicillin-binding proteins inside bacterial cells, blocking the formation of peptidoglycan cross-links in the cell wall, leading to bacterial death.
