Agodox 100mg Capsule contains doxycycline, a tetracycline antibiotic. It is widely prescribed in Tanzania for respiratory tract infections, some sexually transmitted infections, malaria prophylaxis, and acne.

Uses

How to Use
- Dosage: Adults: 100 mg once or twice daily. Malaria prophylaxis: 100 mg daily starting 1–2 days before travel, continued during stay and 4 weeks after leaving endemic area.
- Duration: Depends on infection type (usually 7–14 days for infections).
Side Effects
Photosensitivity (sunburn risk), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, esophageal irritation if taken without water. Rarely, intracranial hypertension.
Interactions
Reduced absorption with dairy, antacids, or iron. May reduce effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Interacts with anticoagulants and retinoids.
Warnings
Avoid in children under 8 years and in pregnancy. Take with full glass of water, remain upright for 30 minutes. Use sunscreen due to photosensitivity risk.
